Twice-weekly flights to Siem Reap
Soneva Kiri, the Thai award-winning resort and standard-setter for Intelligent Luxury, has launched of a twice weekly flight by private plane to Siem Reap in Cambodia, home to the captivating world heritage wonders of Angkor Wat.
Soneva Kiri’s newly appointed General Manager, Graham Grant, said the new service comprises flights to Siem Reap and back every Sunday and Wednesday with brief stops on the ground at Trat airport to clear Thai customs and immigration. “This adds an enticing new dimension to holidays at Soneva Kiri,” Graham said. “It is also our aim to attract customers, who are doing their ‘Cultural Grand Indo China Tour’ too – the ‘trip of a lifetime’ types who are doing Luang Prabang, Angkor Wat, and perhaps onto Vietnam or Burma.
This way, they can treat themselves to a few days after their grand tour or come to Soneva Kiri beforehand to revitalise energy levels before embarking on the full immersions of amazing antiquities and temple ruins. With an average flight time of 50 – 60 minutes, Graham said he expected the new service and fast-tracked customs escort would prove popular with guests. “We fly much lower (10-12,000 feet) than commercial flights, so the views are dramatic. The journey carries you across an endless, infinitely detailed carpet of jungle, giving passengers a rare glimpse of the lush beauty in anticipation of the famous landmark temples like Bayon, Tha Phrom and Angkor Wat.” “This really is the sort of trip where the destination is the journey. And the journey just became an infinitely more pleasurable experience with attentive personal service for which the Soneva brand is renowned.”
